How can we make a difference by understanding our senses?

What differentiates the athlete that has that natural talent? What is that special trait that sets apart the few from the masses?

Up until now we may have chosen to answer these age-old questions by simple stating “technique”. But is technique really the determining factor that allows Rory to get out of just about any tricky bunker lie? Is it technique that made Nicklaus, Crenshaw or Woods the top 3 putting greats of all time?

At the Glenn Billington Academy whilst recognizing that having solid technical knowledge is indispensable for playing excellent golf, we believe that the essential element that separates the highly successful from the mediocre is the ability to FEEL or in other words, the sensitivity of touch.

So what influences our sensitivity and touch? The ability to sense or feel is under direct control of our nervous system.

Our brain, poorly understood is undoubtedly the most complicated subject mankind has attempted to study, and as Nick has pointed out, our mental state greatly influences our ability to master golf.

Our nervous system connects our brain with our body. In fact every cell, tissue and organ is under direct or indirect control by our nervous system.

Our brain sends billions of messages every second of our lives to the trillions of cells that make us who we are. These messages are in fact neurochemical electrical impulses which originate in the brain and travel down to the body via the spinal cord and nerves, or, these impulses may be generated by the body and sent up to the brain via the nerves and spinal for interpretation. This is where our sense or feel comes from.

Before I go off the deep end and get too complicated I’ll make it a little simpler by stating that our ability to sense or feel is directly related to the integrity and proper function of our nervous system.

Chiropractic is the science the studies the integrity of the pathways of those neurological impulses that influence all aspects of our health including our ability to perform physical activities such as golf.

Is it any wonder that the majority of the North American PGA tour players and over 80 different Olympic teams use regular Chiropractic services to reach and obtain maximum neurological integrity and awesome results?

In the future we will discuss the basic differences between different branches of the healing arts, such as Chiropractic, Orthopaedic and Physiotherapy.  So please keep reading the monthly newsletter where I can update you on the new thoughts and understanding that will help you become a more consistent feel player.
